Engineering Manager | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $116,000 - $165,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Oversee the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, scope, and deliverables.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Manage engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Implement and maintain engineering best practices, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Develop and manage the engineering department budget and resource allocation.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects from conception to completion within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and automation technologies.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing processes and technologies (e.g., CNC machining, automation, additive manufacturing).
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing new technologies or processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
