F5 Implementation Engineer

Role Summary
A Load Balancer Design Engineer is responsible for supporting enterprise application delivery infrastructure across global environments. The role involves architecture, design, lifecycle management, and optimization of load balancing platforms, primarily focusing on F5 and VMware AVI solutions. This position is integral to ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient application delivery aligned with enterprise standards and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of application delivery infrastructure, including design, deployment, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Develop high-level designs (HLDs), low-level designs (LLDs), runbooks, and implementation plans to support load balancing solutions.
• Design and implement application delivery architectures, including SSL offloading, DNS, persistence, traffic optimization, and security controls.
• Embed security controls and compliance requirements into all load balancing and application delivery designs.
• Perform quality assurance validation and testing to ensure successful production deployment of load balancing solutions.
• Collaborate with global engineering, operations, and business teams to facilitate service transition and delivery.
• Drive service request fulfillment processes and foster operational efficiency through standardization and governance.
• Lead lifecycle programs such as patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and end-of-life replacements.
• Provide metrics reporting and insights to leadership to inform decision-making.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to load balancing, DNS, SSL, and network performance in production environments.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of experience in network engineering with a focus on load balancing and application delivery.
• Hands-on experience with F5 LTM and GTM modules.
• Exposure to VMware AVI (NSX Advanced Load Balancer).
• Strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, HTTPS, BGP, DNS, and SSL/TLS.
• Proven expertise in application switching, traffic management, persistence, and optimization.
• Experience with SSL offloading, certificate lifecycle management, and PKI processes.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in large, complex environments.
• Ability to utilize APIs such as F5 iControl for automation and integration.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Minimum of 3 years of F5 load balancing experience and working knowledge of AVI load balancing (legacy platform).
• Experience in lifecycle management, technology refresh programs, and cross-functional collaboration.
• F5 Certification (201/301) or equivalent experience is preferred.
• CCNP or CCIE certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and scripting is a plus.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, security assessments, and risk mitigation is advantageous.

Publishing Pay Range: $45.00 - $47.00 Hourly
Location Requirements: This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
