Who You Are:
You are an experienced SQL developer who designs, develops, and supports high-performance database solutions for large and complex datasets. You bring advanced SQL expertise, strong data modeling skills, and hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL processes. You can translate business and analytical requirements into reliable database objects, optimize demanding queries, troubleshoot production issues, and guide other developers in SQL development best practices.
As a Consultant, you’ll contribute to client engagements by delivering insights, building deliverables, and leading workstreams. You’ll be expected to bring strong analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset to solve client problems and drive transformation.
Role and Responsibilities:
You may work on various projects throughout your career with Excelacom. The roles and responsibilities noted below pertain to the specific role listed above.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and other database objects.
- Translate business, reporting, and analytical requirements into scalable relational data models and SQL-based solutions.
- Analyze execution plans and optimize queries, indexes, table structures, and database objects for high-volume production workloads.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes that extract, transform, validate, and load data from diverse source systems.
- Build reusable SQL components and data sets that support reporting, analytics, and downstream applications.
- Monitor scheduled database and ETL jobs, troubleshoot data quality and processing failures, and implement durable resolutions.
- Partner with data analysts, application developers, and data engineers to define data requirements and deliver dependable data solutions.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis to ensure accuracy and consistency across source and target systems.
- Apply source control, code review, testing, and release practices to SQL and ETL development.
- Mentor junior developers through technical guidance, SQL reviews, knowledge sharing, and development best practices.
- Recommend database and process improvements that increase performance, reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
- Work closely with clients to identify process improvements
- Analyze business challenges and recommend technology-driven solutions
- Support system development, integration, and testing activities
- Develop presentations, deliverables, and implementation plans
- Assist with proposals and business development efforts
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced SQL development experience, including complex joins, common table expressions, window functions, subqueries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Demonstrated experience tuning SQL queries and database workloads through execution-plan analysis, indexing, partitioning, and query refactoring.
- Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
- Hands-on experience developing, supporting, and troubleshooting ETL processes and batch data workflows.
- Experience working with large data volumes and designing SQL solutions that perform reliably at production scale.
- Experience with at least one major relational database platform such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or an enterprise cloud data warehouse.
- Experience writing, reviewing, testing, deploying, and troubleshooting production SQL code.
- Strong knowledge of data quality controls, reconciliation methods, and source-to-target mapping.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior developers and provide constructive technical guidance.
- Prior consulting experience – in an agile environment – with a leading strategy firm, consulting practice, or consulting technology firm
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ETL or data integration tools such as AWS Glue, Apache Airflow, Informatica, SSIS, Talend, or similar platforms.
- Experience with cloud data platforms or services in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience using Git and automated database deployment or CI/CD practices.
- Working knowledge of Python, PySpark, shell scripting, or another language used to support data processing and workflow automation.
- Prior experience in Telecommunications, Media, or Cable is highly preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
Excelacom offers competitive salaries, health and wellness benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and career growth opportunities. For regular full-time employees, the estimated salary range is from $90,000 to $115,000.
