System One has an opportunity with a company based in Tulsa, OK that is looking for a strong Network Engineer whos experienced with Cisco products, strong documentation skills, and is thorough in their troubleshooting techniques. Successful candidates must be able to provide proof of ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. This position is not open to corp-to-corp, subcontractor or independent consulting arrangements
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, test, recommend, implement, and maintain data communications hardware for a large metropolitan area network.
- Assist in administering management and utility applications for the network and conduit systems.
- Analyze and optimize network traffic flow, detect, isolate, and correct network errors and outages.
- Install, configure, and maintain layer 2 and 3 network switches, related components, and operating systems.
- Design building and campus networks, including logical and physical structures.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize network traffic; evaluate, test, and recommend networking technologies.
- Research, evaluate, and implement network security measures according to standards and best practices.
- Manage projects in accordance with established processes; assist in troubleshooting and resolving communications issues.
- Document configurations, processes, and procedures for network operations.
- Maintain city fiber inside and outside plant; oversee contract work on conduit systems and city fiber.
- Create network performance reports and ensure compliance with internal processes.
Requirements - Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor''s degree in data communications, telecommunications, industrial engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related fields, including coursework in data communications and computer sciences.
- Four (4) years of experience in data communications or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of networking/fiber management standards, protocols, and best practices, including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, Ethernet, VLANs, MPLS, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, wireless communications, VoIP, SCADA, streaming media, information security, VPN, firewalls, ACLs, intrusion prevention/detection systems, and fiber installation standards.
- Ability to perform analysis of operating and data communications systems; work independently; and develop reports on network and IT topics.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting up to 60 pounds and other physical requirements outlined.
- Preferred certifications include Brocade IP, Avaya, HP, Juniper, Cisco, Alcatel, Extreme, CompTIA Network+, CISSP, GIAC, and manufacturer-specific network certifications.
