Job#: 3020382 Job Description: PeopleSoft Lead Functional Analyst - Payables
The PeopleSoft Lead Functional Analyst - Payables serves as the primary liaison between Information Systems and Accounts Payable business partners, ensuring that system functionality effectively supports business needs across all user groups. This role is responsible for researching, recommending, and influencing best-practice solutions by leveraging deep expertise in PeopleSoft Payables applications and related business processes.
The analyst will create and maintain functional requirements, drive process improvements, and guide proposed technology solutions. In addition, this role provides leadership and mentoring through active knowledge sharing and plays a key role in planning and executing application upgrades, patches, problem resolution, change requests, and system enhancements. The ideal candidate combines strong functional AP expertise with technical aptitude and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and IT teams.
Top Must-Have Requirements
- Strong Accounts Payable functional experience, ideally within PeopleSoft Financials 9.2
- Solid banking and ACH processing experience
- Proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and configure ERP applications with limited supervision
- Collaborative, self-directed professional with strong communication skills across technical and business stakeholders
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience implementing, upgrading, maintaining, and supporting PeopleSoft applications
Preferred
- Deep experience with the PeopleSoft Payables module (experience with other ERP Payables systems will also be considered)
- Familiarity with expense management and/or cash management / treasury functions
Technical & Functional Overview
Primary Focus
- Functional ownership and support of Accounts Payable and supply chain-related modules
Preferred Background
- Strong AP experience
- PeopleSoft Financials experience highly preferred
Technical Skills
- No hands-on coding required (dedicated technical resources support development)
- Working knowledge of SQL is helpful
- Ability to run queries, reports, and follow configuration guides
- Exposure to PeopleSoft Test Framework is a plus (tool currently being adopted)

Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain PeopleSoft Payables modules aligned with business requirements and best practices
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through better use of delivered PeopleSoft functionality
- Conduct conference room pilots, proofs of concept, and configuration reviews to gain stakeholder buy-in
- Collaborate with technical teams on system customizations, reports, integrations, and enhancements
- Partner with business stakeholders to review priorities, manage demand, and align on delivery timelines
- Serve as subject matter expert for Payables functionality and related integrations
- Ensure requests follow formal change management processes with clearly defined business cases
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions and perform fit/gap analyses
- Develop functional design documents, process flows, test plans, and training materials
- Troubleshoot configuration issues using root cause analysis and system configuration changes
- Promote solutions that prioritize configuration over customization
- Encourage knowledge sharing, mentorship, and training within the team
- Maintain awareness of application roadmaps and strategic initiatives
