Description:
Our client, one of the worlds leading mining companies is looking for a Project Manager Engineering - Civil/Structural

Where You Will Work:
This role is based at the Collaboration Hub in the Warehouse District of New Orleans, Louisiana. The Hub supports global functions including investor relations, finance, engineering, marketing, communications, and information technology. Employees generally follow a hybrid work schedule with virtual collaboration and occasional in-person meetings or training. The Hub is located in a historic building and includes office space, meeting rooms, kitchen and dining areas, phone booths, and tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. The surrounding area is known for its rich history, architecture, culture, music, and cuisine, with many hotels, galleries, restaurants, and museums within walking distance.

What You Will Do:
This position leads a team of CAD Designers and Drafters, implementing CAD best practices across multiple projects. You will shape the strategic direction of engineering projects from early concept through execution, promote design excellence, and create efficiencies throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Manage, lead, train, and mentor a team of designers, encouraging continuous learning and improvement.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and project prioritization guidance to team members.
  • Establish design objectives and technical specifications aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Ensure design quality and consistency across all projects.
  • Coordinate design reviews and updates with department leaders.
  • Establish, document, implement, and improve CAD standards of practice.
  • Participate in early project planning and contribute to Project Execution Plans.
  • Lead CAD setup activities for new projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality protocols.
  • Coordinate the addition or removal of design resources with engineering department leads.
  • Evaluate skillsets of new personnel before project mobilization.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to improve design processes.
  • Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets related to design activities.
  • Educate engineering personnel on software functionality to align engineering with design best practices.
  • Work with software vendors to resolve technical issues.


What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related field and seven years of engineering experience relevant to the assignment, including supervisory or lead experience and prior project management experience; OR
  • High School Diploma and twelve years of relevant engineering experience, including supervisory or lead experience and prior project management experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing a design team and developing design processes.
  • Drafting and design experience.
  • Expertise transitioning teams to new design software.
  • Expertise developing, documenting, and implementing CAD standards.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex design projects and deliver results on time.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO, ANSI, and ASME.
  • Knowledge of efficient plant layout design.
