Role Overview
We are seeking an Infrastructure Delivery Install Technician to join an infrastructure team responsible for the day-to-day installation of servers, network equipment, and structured cabling. This role involves project work and capacity management within a dynamic data center environment. The technician will contribute to the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and assist in developing innovative ways to automate and scale network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cable infrastructure in partnership with cable vendors.
- Perform physical installation of network and server racks and devices.
- Manage and maintain infrastructure inventory levels.
- Install, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, including patch panels and patch cords.
- Ensure that data center and vendor installations comply with all installation practices.
- Report current status via ticketing systems, status reports, email, and other communication tools.
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing systems and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
- Maintain accurate records and document problems and processes to execute changes within data centers.
- Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain site cleanliness.
- Move integrated enterprise equipment from loading docks into planned positions.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately assess a wide range of infrastructure issues. Requires a good understanding of computers, servers, switches, and various networking devices from both a hardware and software perspective.
Skills: Possesses technical aptitude, strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability, and effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations and exercise high levels of initiative and judgment.
Work Environment
- This position requires up to 50% travel within the geographical work area.
- The ability to walk job sites in uneven terrain and work safely at heights and from ladders is required.
- Must be able to work on your feet for an 8-hour shift.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or more.
- Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 and participate in after-hours support as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $20.00 and $23.00 per hour.
