The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a premier computational drug discovery organization in New York City. The client is hiring a PhD Scientist to build AI/ML-ready drug discovery data. The organization pairs atomic-level molecular simulation and purpose-built high-performance computing with machine learning. It uses that combination to engineer highly selective, precisely targeted therapeutics, both in its own programs and in external collaborations.

As a member of the client’s ML Data group, you’ll work side by side with machine learning scientists to define and carry out the organization’s data strategy for drug discovery. It’s a rare chance to apply deep bench expertise at the frontier of AI-driven therapeutics. The client values inventive, curious contributors and keeps a collaborative, upbeat, intellectually energizing culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner daily with machine learning researchers to steer how chemical and biological data feeds model development.
  • Shape and put into practice the organization’s long-range data roadmap for discovery science.
  • Design new scientific datasets and pinpoint high-value data sources.
  • Curate chemical and biological data with rigor and scientific integrity.
  • Analyze complex experimental data to surface insights that sharpen ML-driven discovery.
  • Advance the team’s drug discovery and development initiatives in a fast-moving, cross-disciplinary setting.

What You Bring

  • A PhD in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biology, or a closely aligned discipline (required)
  • Practical bench experience gained in an industry lab (required)
  • Working knowledge of Drug Discovery Assays and associated laboratory techniques (required)
  • Five or more years within pharmaceutical or biotech organizations, ideally contributing to discovery programs (preferred)
  • Exposure to Linux environments and Python (a bonus, not a requirement)

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Base salary: $250,000–$400,000 annually. The final figure reflects factors such as depth of prior experience and educational background.
  • Variable pay: sign-on and year-end bonuses
