Overview

We are hiring a Director of Platform Engineering & Operations to own and scale our entire technology platform. This leader will oversee both customer-facing systems and internal infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 availability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency across a hybrid Azure and on-prem environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical depth with strategic execution. You'll build and lead high-performing teams, drive operational excellence, and partner closely with application development, product, and executive leadership to support rapid company growth.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers across infrastructure, DevOps/SRE, and end-user support
  • Own the platform strategy, roadmap, and execution aligned to business goals and customer SLAs
  • Define and report operational KPIs around availability, reliability, incident response, and cloud cost optimization
  • Establish strong operational cadence including incident reviews, change management, and continuous improvement

Platform Engineering & Operations
  • Own the design and 24/7 operation of hybrid cloud infrastructure (Azure + on-prem)
  • Ensure high availability, performance, security, and scalability across environments
  • Drive platform standards for networking, identity, security, monitoring, and observability
  • Lead cloud cost optimization and governance initiatives

DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering
  • Drive modern DevOps and SRE practices including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), and Kubernetes
  • Implement reliability best practices such as observability, error budgets, SLOs/SLIs, and blameless postmortems
  • Improve deployment velocity while maintaining operational stability and audit readiness

Security, Compliance & Resiliency
  • Own security and compliance controls including access management, monitoring, and incident response
  • Lead Disaster Recovery planning and execution, including RPO/RTO targets, runbooks, and regular testing
  • Ensure backup, restore, and resilience processes are documented, tested, and maintained

End-User & IT Operations
  • Oversee desktop, endpoint, and telecom services in a growing, distributed organization
  • Implement ITSM best practices across incident, request, and asset management
  • Manage infrastructure, SaaS, and telecom vendors and contracts

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or operations
  • 3-5+ years of experience leading technical teams
  • Deep experience with Microsoft Azure, hybrid environments, and Kubernetes
  • Strong background in DevOps, SRE, security, and disaster recovery
  • Proven experience supporting mission-critical, 24x7 platforms
  • Excellent communicator able to partner with engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with changing priorities

Nice to Have

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, AI, video analytics, IoT, telematics, or data-intensive platforms
  • Familiarity with SOC 2, ITSM tools, and regulated environments
  • Relevant certifications (Azure, security, or ITIL)

This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $200000.00 - $240000.00/yr.
