Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer Senior DCBOS-Cntrto support the design, validation, performance, and optimization of cloud-based systems within AWS environments. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring system functionality, performance, and configuration integrity through engineering analysis, verification activities, and continuous improvement efforts in a secure, mission-driven environment.
This role requires deep expertise in cloud systems engineering, including validation, performance analysis, and system optimization across complex cloud infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support AWS cloud-based systems, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Perform verification and validation (V&V) activities to ensure cloud systems meet functional and technical requirements.
- Conduct timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, and system performance evaluations.
- Support requirements allocation, validation, and traceability across cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Define and manage interfaces between cloud services, applications, and external systems.
- Monitor and troubleshoot system functionality, performance, and configuration issues across AWS environments.
- Optimize compute, storage, and networking resources to improve system efficiency and reliability.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improving system performance, tools, and processes.
- Implement automation solutions to enhance system provisioning, monitoring, and operational efficiency.
- Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms to track system health, performance, and utilization.
- Ensure cloud systems comply with security policies, federal standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud architects, developers, testers, and system administrators.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) services (EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, IAM, etc.).
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, networking, and storage concepts.
- Experience with system verification, validation, and performance analysis.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot system functionality, performance, and configuration issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, security-focused environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architectures.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices in cloud environments.
- Experience working in federal or regulated environments.
Certifications:
- One or more cloud certifications (AWS preferred), such as:
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate
