Need Lead SAP ABAP Consultant with Payroll Experience :: 100% remote

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead SAP ABAP Consultant with strong expertise in SAP HCM Payroll / SAP EC Payroll (ECP) to lead development, enhancements, and integrations. The role requires deep technical ABAP skills combined with functional understanding of payroll processes, schemas, and rules. The candidate will work closely with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and integration teams to deliver scalable and compliant payroll solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end ABAP development for SAP HCM Payroll / EC Payroll projects.
• Design, develop, and optimize custom payroll programs, reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms.
• Work on Payroll schemas, PCRs (Personnel Calculation Rules), and exits to support complex payroll requirements.
• Develop and enhance RICEF objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms).
• Lead technical design discussions and provide scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Collaborate with functional teams to translate payroll requirements into technical specifications.
• Build and support interfaces with third-party payroll systems, banking, tax systems, and benefits providers.
• Develop HR Forms (SmartForms/Adobe Forms) for payslips and statutory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with country-specific payroll regulations and statutory requirements.
• Perform code reviews, enforce development standards, and mentor junior ABAP developers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to payroll processing and integrations.
• Support data migration, payroll simulation, parallel runs, and cutover activities.
• Optimize performance of payroll-related ABAP programs and batch jobs.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP (7+ years) with leadership exposure.
• Extensive experience in SAP HCM Payroll / SAP EC Payroll (ECP).
• Expertise in Payroll schemas & PCRs, HR ABAP (Infotypes, Logical Databases PNP/PNPCE), Enhancements (User Exits, BAdIs, Implicit Enhancements)
• Strong experience with RICEF development, ALV Reports (OO & Classical), SmartForms / Adobe Forms
• Experience with SAP PI/PO, CPI, or APIs for payroll integrations.
• Knowledge of IDocs, RFCs, Web Services, OData.
• Familiarity with SAP SuccessFactors EC Payroll integration is highly preferred.
• Experience with HANA optimization techniques is a plus.
• Strong understanding of Payroll processing lifecycle, Wage types, schemas, and payroll control center, Time evaluation integration with payroll
• Knowledge of country-specific payroll (US, UK, India, etc.) is a plus.
• Proven experience leading ABAP teams and managing deliverables.
• Strong stakeholder communication and requirement analysis skills.
• Ability to work in onsite-offshore model and coordinate across teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
