Enterprise Architect - CloudLocation: Washington, DC (Hybrid/Remote)
Duration: 6 month contract, with potential for extension or conversion
Pay: Available on W2
OverviewWe are seeking an experienced
Enterprise Architect - Cloud to lead the design, modernization, and implementation of cloud-based architectures across a large-scale enterprise environment. This role is responsible for shaping cloud strategy, guiding migration initiatives, developing architectural roadmaps, and ensuring cloud solutions align with organizational goals and industry best practices.
This position is hybrid with work performed in the Washington, DC area. Public Trust screening is required. The Public Trust process for this program may take up to three months and includes a personal disclosure review and a soft credit check.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level cloud architecture strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Develop scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud solutions using primarily Microsoft Azure with potential involvement in AWS, Google Cloud, or other providers.
- Establish and maintain the cloud architecture roadmap in alignment with business and IT priorities.
- Provide expert guidance on cloud adoption, cloud-native development, and enterprise cloud governance.
- Oversee and guide migrations of legacy and on-premises applications, systems, and workloads to modern cloud platforms.
- Architect hybrid and multi-cloud solutions integrating cloud services with on-premises infrastructure.
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools such as Terraform.
- Partner with senior leadership and technical teams to provide architectural direction and recommendations.
- Ensure teams follow Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies when designing and deploying cloud applications.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, industry advancements, and best practices to support continuous improvement.
Requirements Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture, enterprise architecture, or similar roles supporting enterprise-scale cloud initiatives.
- Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures including microservices, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, encryption, and network security best practices.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and financial management practices.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and efficient cloud architecture solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership experience guiding teams and mentoring engineers and architects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills- Azure Solutions Architect certifications.
- Experience using automation and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or CircleCI.
- Familiarity with cloud governance platforms (e.g., CloudHealth, CloudBolt).
- Experience building or supporting cloud-based data lakes, big data architectures, or AI/ML infrastructure.
