This Senior Security Engineer - IAM owns the
design, implementation, and day-to-day operation of the organization's Identity and Access Management platforms. The role exists to
secure access at scale, automate identity lifecycle processes, and ensure access controls hold up under audit. Success looks like stable IAM platforms, clean integrations, automated access workflows, and auditors finding fewer problems each year.
What They'll Actually Do
- Design, implement, and operate IAM solutions across SSO, MFA, IGA, PAM, and directory services
- Build and maintain integrations between IAM platforms and business applications using SAML, OIDC, OAuth, LDAP, and APIs
- Automate joiner/mover/leaver (JML) workflows to reduce manual access provisioning
- Support and improve hybrid identity environments (on-prem AD + cloud identity platforms)
- Partner with security, IT, and application teams to fix access issues and reduce identity risk
- Support audits, access reviews, and compliance remediation related to identity controls
- Provide technical guidance and light mentorship to junior engineers (no people management)
Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable)
- Hands-on IAM engineering experience with platforms like Okta, SailPoint, Entra ID, AWS IAM, or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of SAML, OIDC, OAuth2, LDAP, Kerberos
- Experience automating identity workflows using PowerShell, Python, or similar
- Experience operating hybrid IAM environments (on-prem + cloud)
- Direct involvement in access governance, audits, or compliance support
Nice-to-Haves (Truly Optional)
- PAM or CIAM implementation experience
- Experience in regulated industries (financial services a plus)
- Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, SOX, or FFIEC expectations
- DevOps-style IAM automation or infrastructure-as-code exposure
