Responsibilities

An Average day:As a Datacenter Facilities & Equipment Specialist III you will engage in customer communication about ongoing and upcoming projects as well as perform any device set-up, installs, or decommissions, including completing all necessary documentation and provide status and completion updates. You will also perform cabling tasks as needed, running both copper and fiber connections throughout the Datacenter. Additionally, as necessary, you will escort vendors and customers for required work and site visits. You will also perform troubleshooting tasks to remediate issues within the datacenter and provide timely and accurate updates on issues and resolution. Additionally, in this position you will:
  • Provide onsite 24x7/365 rotation coverage for data center facilities and equipment services.
  • Monitor, analyze and remediate data center facility issues.
  • Perform in a leadership capacity and provide 24x7/365 remote and on-premises troubleshooting support to team members.
  • Install, test, configure, customize, and maintain various data center facility support systems.
  • Monitor and maintain facility performance, capacity, availability and tune as needed.
  • Configure, customize, and optimize data center facility high availability solutions.
  • Support, monitor, and perform physical security activities.
  • Utilize automation tools and frameworks following organizational standards.
  • Utilize methods for identifying opportunities for improvement and work with the Datacenter lead to develop solutions.
  • Maintain deep comprehension of OCIO's customers and mission, security expectations and processes as well as OCIO's service architectures.
  • Install, replace, maintain, and remove rack-mounted IT equipment.
  • Coordinate and communicate with engineers to replace small IT components in systems as needed.
  • Creation of inventory and maintenance documentation for IT hardware and infrastructure systems.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to appearance and safety standards.
  • Participate in Agile project management and a DevSecOps culture as required.

Qualifications

    In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C), we will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
  • 5+ years of Datacenter Facilities and Equipment or similar experience
  • Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust
  • Expertise in modern datacenter facilities operations to include environmental controls, security, safety systems, power, backup power systems, and smart building decision systems.
  • Skilled at determining electrical power requirements, hardware placement, installation, move, replacement, and removal activities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. All contractor employees must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be capable of directing personnel and interfacing with the Government and customers.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to management and others.
  • Work in confined areas such as crawl spaces, attics, utility pits, tunnels, manholes, and other confined spaces
  • Work from heights such as rooftops, ledges, scaffolding, including climbing extension ladders and scaffolding.
  • Move and handle heavy objects such as equipment, tools, and other building materials.
  • DISC follows the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices. It is important for the employees to demonstrate experience based on ITIL framework:
    • ITIL v4 foundation knowledge.
    • Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.
  • Must be able to present acceptable identification for customer badging and site access, such as a REAL ID compliant driver license, U.S. Passport, or other approved document from the GSA Required Identification List.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $33.65/Hr. - USD $38.46/Hr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
