Production Asset Software & Controls Equipment Engineer
Overview

We are seeking a Production Asset Software & Controls Equipment Engineer to support the design, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of production equipment and automated control systems used within a manufacturing environment.

This role involves developing, procuring, and sustaining electrical, electronic, and automated equipment used in production and testing operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing processes, troubleshoot equipment issues, and drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Engineering & Automation
  • Design, develop, procure, and sustain electrical/electronic automated production equipment.
  • Support manual test equipment and production systems as required.
  • Evaluate and select hardware and software solutions for manufacturing applications.
  • Implement, validate, and deploy hardware and software upgrades in automated control systems.
  • Develop and implement equipment safety improvements and compliance solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and support industrial control systems and automation technologies.
Software & Controls Development
  • Develop, modify, test, and debug software applications for manufacturing equipment.
  • Configure and maintain hardware, software, and system documentation.
  • Support PLC programming, industrial networking, and control system integration.
  • Design and support equipment network infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide technical support for production equipment and automated systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to quality, safety, reliability, and repeatability.
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and systemic production issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and long-term improvement solutions.
  • Maintain and improve equipment performance monitoring systems and data collection processes.
Project Management & Collaboration
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders across manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, quality, and operations.
  • Develop project scope, evaluate make-versus-buy alternatives, and prepare technical specifications.
  • Lead and manage projects involving acquisition, modification, and deployment of manufacturing equipment.
  • Prepare bid packages, technical specifications, and procurement documentation for suppliers.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, quality, purchasing, finance, suppliers, and external vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical, safety, and industry standards.
Documentation & Design
  • Develop equipment specifications, technical documentation, and design packages.
  • Verify that hardware, software, and materials meet design and operational requirements.
  • Support equipment design using CAD tools where required.
  • Analyze design concepts and identify solutions that improve manufacturability and equipment reliability.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of engineering experience in a relevant technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience with electrical and electronic systems engineering.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong troubleshooting and system diagnostics experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking, servers, databases, and cybersecurity.
  • Programming experience in C#, Java, Visual Basic, or similar languages.
  • Experience with PLC programming platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, Fanuc, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) technologies including PXI, PCI, VXI, IEEE-488, RS-485, and CAN Bus.
  • Experience using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, or equivalent.
  • Experience administering Windows-based operating systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Project, Visual Studio, and related tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
