Mass Properties Engineer 1

Location: Chandler, Arizona (Onsite)

Clearance: Secret Clearance

Role Overview

This role supports the Mechanical and Energetics department. As a member of the mass properties group, you will work with diverse teams to model the mass properties of various launch vehicles. This work is critical to ensuring mission success by meeting performance and weight requirements. This early-career position offers hands-on experience with advanced aerospace systems and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Mass Properties Models for launch vehicles and subsystems.
  • Perform weight and balance analysis, including estimating and optimizing mass properties for launch systems.
  • Establish design target weights and track compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain mass properties accounting systems and provide trend analysis for program leadership.
  • Support proposal evaluations, design reviews, and operational documentation.
  • Conduct component weighing and verification to improve the accuracy of estimates.
  • Present findings in technical and program reviews.
  • Interact regularly with other groups and departments to gather information and communicate status.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field is required.

Experience: This position requires 0-5 years of experience in an engineering field.

Technical Skills: Candidates must have basic CAD understanding and usage, along with familiarity with MS Office products.

Additional Skills: The role requires strong detail orientation, good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work with others to gather information. Must be willing and able to obtain a DOD secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates with an active DOD Secret clearance are highly preferred for this position
  • Experience in programming in Access VBA and Excel Macros.
  • Ability to work on projects and complete them on time with minimal oversight from managers and leads.
  • Experience with mass properties in a school or work project, including concepts of mass, weight, center of gravity, and moments of inertia.
