Role Overview
This role is responsible for hands-on application development to support current and target processes. The selected candidate will partner with multiple technology teams to implement the target architecture and support migration to a strategic platform. This position involves working with large data sets and complex logic in a distributed computing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java applications from end to end.
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.
- Discover, ingest, and integrate new data sources, including real-time, streaming, and batch data.
- Load and manage large data sets within a Hadoop ecosystem.
- Compute complex logic on Spark platforms.
- Identify and implement performance improvements and memory optimizations in data-intensive applications.
- Collaborate with technology teams to implement target architecture and platform migrations.
- Lead and mentor other members of the data engineering team.
Required Qualifications
Education: A BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or any quantitative discipline is required.
Experience: A minimum of 9 years of experience in end-to-end Java application development is required. Experience with software development in an Agile environment is also necessary.
Technical Skills:- Core Java skills, including multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC.
- Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks like Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hive, or Apache Flink.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Familiarity with Java profiling tools and performance tuning for data-intensive applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Java UI technologies such as HTML5, Angular JS, Backbone JS, or Bootstrap.
- A background in enterprise stress testing.
- Knowledge of risk domains, including credit, operational, and market risk.
- Familiarity with cloud or distributed computing concepts.
