Scope of Work for Contract Product Owner
The Product Owner (PO) will serve as the single voice of the business to the Scrum team, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical delivery. This role is critical for maximizing product value and driving successful outcomes in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Vision & Roadmap
· Define and maintain a clear product vision aligned with organizational goals.
· Develop and adapt product roadmap and release plans based on stakeholder input and market trends.
Backlog Management
· Own and prioritize the product backlog to maximize business value.
· Write and refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
· Ensure backlog items are ready for sprint planning and meet quality standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
· Act as the liaison between business stakeholders and development teams.
· Gather requirements, communicate updates, and integrate feedback into backlog decisions.
Sprint Participation
· Attend key Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Reviews, Backlog Refinement).
· Provide clarification on requirements and approve completed work.
Decision-Making & ROI
· Make empowered decisions on priorities and scope.
· Ensure deliverables meet business needs and contribute to ROI.

Core Competencies:
· Proven ability to define product vision and translate it into actionable roadmaps.
· Expertise in Agile/Scrum frameworks, including backlog grooming and sprint planning.
· Strong communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders and development teams.
Technical & Business Acumen:
· Familiarity with software development processes and ability to balance technical constraints with business priorities.
· Experience in writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and managing evolving requirements.

Preferred Background:
· Previous experience in contract or consulting roles as a Product Owner or similar positions.
· Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent are highly desirable.
Domain-Specific Experience (nice to have):
· Digital Laboratory Products: Understanding of workflows, compliance, and integration with lab systems.
· Logistics & Order-to-Results: Experience managing processes from order initiation through fulfillment and reporting.
· Data & Analytics: Ability to leverage data for decision-making and product optimization.
· Vendor Management: Skilled in coordinating with external partners and managing service-level agreements.
· Billing Processes: Knowledge of billing systems and financial workflows related to product delivery.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (business, Computer Science, engineering, technology, health care) AND 3+ years of relevant technical experience
OR - 7+ years of relevant technical experience.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Certification in Scrum Product Owner within 1 year
