Summary

Fiber Networks Specialist III
Location: Hybrid- Must live in OH, PA, WV, VA, MD, NJ or NY
Contract: W2 only, 24 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
 
Overview
The Fiber Networks team is responsible for managing the design, construction, and maintenance of the fiber network supporting the electrical network operations. As a Fiber Networks Specialist, you will collaborate with management, engineering, and field personnel, working closely with fiber contractors and subcontractors on installation, maintenance, and project support.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Support Fiber Optic Network and projects
  • Follow established IT Operations and network processes
  • Champion safe work practices for employees and contractors in accordance with Corporate, OSHA, and industry standards
  • Work closely with other departments, contractors, and subcontractors to develop project requirements, costs, and schedule
  • Develop business cases for new projects
  • Conduct field site visits in support of projects, maintenance, or relocations (as necessary)
  • Design fiber solutions that are scalable, reliable, and cost-effective
  • Coordinate fiber optic events within the Change Management process
  • Participate in on-call rotation
 
Required Skills
  • Direct outside fiber project management experience
  • Experience within the electric distribution or transmission industry, fiber engineering or design contractor, fiber installation or maintenance company, or cable service provider
  • General management of fiber networks
  • Knowledge of building fiber in underground, distribution power space, and static positions on transmission lines
  • Experience working with and knowledge of ADSS and OPGW fiber cable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with drawing and document storage tools (AutoCAD, Visio, FileNet, etc.)
  • Knowledge of mapping programs used for documentation of fiber optic cable routes
  • Proven skills in utilizing construction drawings and documents
  • Demonstrated project management and/or coordination of various size projects
  • Familiarity with optical network transport technologies
  • Experience managing right of way and permit issues
  • General knowledge of OSHA, NESC, and other standards for fiber installation in power space
  • Understanding underground locating requirements and services
