Location: Hybrid (Multiple U.S. Locations)


Overview

High-growth technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale next-generation payment platforms. This role focuses on designing secure, high-volume, cloud-based payment systems and driving innovation across card issuing and payment processing capabilities.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, and support scalable payment systems and APIs




  • Build microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectures




  • Develop integrations with third-party payment providers and event-driven systems




  • Ensure performance, reliability, and low-latency transaction processing




  • Implement secure, compliant, and fraud-resistant payment solutions




  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems




  • Automate deployments and infrastructure using CI/CD and IaC tools




  • Partner with product and cross-functional teams to deliver new payment capabilities




  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices




Qualifications


  • Experience building distributed systems and microservices using Java and Spring Boot




  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, messaging systems, and event-driven architecture




  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)




  • Background in building high-availability, scalable applications




  • Familiarity with containers and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)




  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and performance tuning




  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in production environments




  • Strong communication and collaboration skills




Preferred


  • Experience working with payment systems, card processing, or financial platforms




  • Exposure to security, compliance (e.g., PCI), and encryption practices




  • Experience with Kafka or similar streaming technologies




  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications in data or payments environments




  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
