Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

  • Under minimal supervision, partner with stakeholders to develop and maintain business intelligence, reporting, and analytics solutions.
  • Drive business decisions by providing quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting of patterns, insights, and trends to decision-makers.
  • Develop, monitor, and report department KPIs and metrics, translating business requirements into the appropriate analytics solution.
  • Provide project oversight, coaching, and mentoring to BI team members and business partners as needed.
  • Primary focus: Serve as Lead Power BI Developer (5-10 years) owning Power BI solutions end-to-end (inception, requirements, design, build, release, and support) while acting as Product Owner / Project Manager for assigned BI products and initiatives.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Power BI Lead Development (Primary)

  • Lead the full lifecycle of enterprise Power BI solutions: requirements intake, semantic model design, report/dashboard development, testing, deployment, adoption, and production support.
  • Create, review, and performance tune Power BI semantic models and reports; ensure accuracy, performance, and meaningful visual stories.
  • Establish and enforce Power BI development standards (semantic modeling, DAX patterns, naming conventions, data validation, security, and performance optimization).
  • Design and implement governed, reusable KPI definitions and metric layers to enable consistent reporting across teams.


Product Ownership & Project Management (Primary)

  • Own BI products and project execution from conception to completion: roadmap planning, backlog grooming, prioritization, acceptance criteria, release planning, and stakeholder communication.
  • Manage delivery timelines, scope, risks, dependencies, and cross-functional coordination (business, data engineering, platform teams, vendors).
  • Participate as core member of Agile team across planning, analysis, design, development, and testing activities including participation in scrum ceremonies.


Tableau Development (Required)

  • Produce actionable Tableau reports and dashboards showing key performance indicators, improvement opportunities, and root cause analysis.
  • Create, review, and performance tune Tableau dashboards; ensure dashboards are accurate and display meaningful visual stories.


SQL, Data Modeling & Analytics (Required)

  • Conduct data analysis in support of analytic solutions; interpret data, analyze results, and provide insights to determine operational impact, trends, and opportunities.
  • Develop complex SQL and procedures, including performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data models supporting BI solutions (semantic layer mindset, reusable logic, strong documentation).


Python & Advanced Analytics (Required)

  • Use Python for analytics, automation, data quality validation, repeatable transformations, and/or pipeline support aligned to BI needs.


Power Apps Development (Required)

  • Design, develop, and support Power Apps solutions (primarily Canvas Apps) to enable insight-to-action workflows tied to reporting outcomes.
  • Integrate apps with data sources and BI experiences as needed to streamline user workflows and reduce manual processes.


Stakeholder Partnership & Support

  • Work with business users to identify analytics requirements and provide recommendations on analysis options to solve business problems.
  • Provide reporting solutions and respond to ad-hoc report requests across multiple business areas.
  • Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; track and resolve performance and production issues.
  • Provide project oversight, training, coaching, and mentoring.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.


Relevant Work Experience

  • 5-10 years of Power BI lead developer experience, owning solutions from inception through development, release, and support (semantic models, DAX, performance tuning, governance).
  • At least 5-10 years of dashboard development experience using Tableau or similar technology.
  • At least 5 -10 years of experience leveraging SQL for data analysis and performance tuning.


Additional

  • At least 5 years of data modeling experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Demonstrated product ownership and project management experience (scope, timeline, stakeholder alignment, delivery execution).
  • Experience developing solutions with Power Apps (Canvas Apps).
  • Python proficiency applied to analytics and/or automation.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; proficient in MS Word and Access.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, or other related field.


Relevant Work Experience

  • Experience working with Python (preferred), and/or other analytics languages (e.g., R).
  • Manhattan WMS experience (Manhattan Active WM preferred) and/or warehouse operations analytics experience.
  • Cognos development experience (IBM Cognos report development and/or metadata modeling with Framework Manager).
  • Experience working with offshore teams and/or vendor delivery models.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$101,000.00 - $152,000.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
