Cloud Data Migration Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Migration Engineer to support enterprise cloud migration initiatives involving Oracle databases and AWS cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), cloud networking, ETL/ELT processes, automation, and large-scale data migration strategies. This role requires hands-on experience designing, implementing, and executing secure, scalable, and highly available cloud migration solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement end-to-end data migration solutions from Oracle databases to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Plan and execute batch and real-time data ingestion strategies, including full loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures.
• Design and configure AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, NAT gateways, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
• Build and manage cloud environments utilizing EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, and other AWS services.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-based data integration processes.
• Automate deployment, migration, and operational tasks using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Configure cloud security controls and networking to ensure secure hybrid cloud connectivity.
• Monitor migration activities and cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and related monitoring tools.
• Create migration runbooks, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and disaster recovery strategies while minimizing downtime.
• Collaborate with architects, database administrators, application teams, and business stakeholders throughout migration projects.
• Produce comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Support modernization of legacy systems and integration with hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of enterprise technology solutions.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate Oracle databases to AWS.
• Strong experience with batch processing, CDC, real-time data ingestion, and streaming data architectures.
• Experience using CloudFormation or Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT methodologies and cloud data integration.
• Experience developing automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience configuring AWS security and hybrid cloud connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• Proven experience planning and executing enterprise data migration cutovers, rollback strategies, and minimizing downtime.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create technical documentation and migration runbooks.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and supporting hybrid cloud environments.
