Senior Java Developer

Location: Chicago, IL | Charlotte, NC (On-site)

Employment Type: Contract

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer for a software engineering team focused on building and enhancing Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions. This role supports cybersecurity initiatives for the company. The position requires interfacing with engineering leads, partnering with architects to drive strategic architecture, and performing analysis, design, development, and testing of solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interface with engineering leads to define requirements and deliverables.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and business architects to drive strategic IAM architecture.
  • Prototype new technologies and work with vendors to implement new capabilities.
  • Perform analysis, design, development, and testing of solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for various projects with business technology partners.
  • Manage workload with minimal supervision to ensure delivery of solutions.
  • Coordinate and support projects, including product upgrades and new capability deployments.
Required Qualifications

Education: A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field is required.

Experience: Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience in Information Technology, with 5 or more years building and integrating large-scale Java/J2EE applications. Experience with delivering full-life cycle projects and working in Agile development methodologies is necessary.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong skills in designing and developing SOAP/RESTful APIs and Microservices.
  • Ability to provide solutions using frameworks like SpringMVC, NodeJS, React, or Angular.
  • Experience in database design and tuning.
  • Experience in Identity & Access Management (IAM) technologies, including OAuth2/OIDC, MFA, FIDO, Single Sign-On, federation, Digital Certificates, and LDAP.
  • Proficiency with SDLC tools such as JIRA, GIT, Maven, Jenkins, and Ansible.
  • Development experience in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, cryptography, and HSM.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in secure programming practices.
  • Experience with IAM platforms such as Ping Federate or Ping Access.
