Job#: 3034912 Job Description: Security Architect
Location: Chicago, Illinois (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 7 month contract w/extension
Role Overview
This position supports a focused SaaS Security Architecture Program designed to improve the security posture of SaaS platforms. The role involves conducting security architecture reviews and assessments across existing SaaS platforms. This is an advisory-focused role, not a hands-on engineering or platform management position. The architect will partner with Security Architecture, the SaaS Program Team, application owners, and third-party risk representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate SaaS security posture holistically, connecting risks across identity, data sensitivity, access, and attack surface.
- Conduct security architecture reviews and assessments for SaaS platforms.
- Provide risk-based architectural guidance to stakeholders and explain why a security gap constitutes a risk.
- Establish security patterns related to cloud and hybrid architecture and assist technology teams with implementation.
- Collaborate with the SaaS Program Team, application owners, and third-party risk representatives.
- Represent the security team in technical discussions and drive deliverables with minimal guidance.
- Tie findings back to regulatory requirements and explain the associated risk.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Approximately seven or more years in cybersecurity, with a preference for three to four years in an architecture-focused role. Experience should demonstrate a broad cybersecurity knowledge base rather than specialization in a single domain.
Technical Skills:- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST), standards, and SSDLC.
- Experience with identity management systems including Authentication, SSO, RBAC, privilege management, and Microsoft Entra.
- Knowledge of third-party cybersecurity due diligence and risk management.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, hybrid, and multi-cloud systems.
- Understanding of data security concepts including encryption, retention, and classification.
- Familiarity with application security (OWASP, API security) and security logging/monitoring (SIEM).
- Understanding of network architecture concepts, including topology, protocols, components, Firewall, IPS/IDS, and WAF.
Preferred Qualifications
- CISSP, CCSP, or other cloud security certifications.
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Knowledge related to AI, specifically Microsoft Co-pilot.
