About the Role

TEKsystems is actively seeking an experienced Lead Travel Technician to support commercial installation projects across the country. This is a leadership role overseeing on-site installs while working hands-on with conduit, cabling, and complex security systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can take charge in the field, deliver high-quality work, and guide 1-3 technicians on each project.
This position offers steady travel, consistent work, and a high volume of overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial low-voltage installation projects nationwide
  • Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and structured telecom cabling
  • Install and program security cameras, access hardware, and video systems
  • Build out cable pathways and ensure compliance with obstructions, electrical, and structural considerations
  • Run Cat6, fiber, coax, and other LV cabling
  • Read blueprints, construction drawings, and schematics
  • Install and configure server racks, access points, and fire alarm devices
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, labeling, and quality checks
  • Ensure projects meet standards for safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Provide direction to 1-3 junior technicians on-site
  • Communicate with project management and document daily progress

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in low voltage, security, structured cabling, or related field
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Security cameras & video systems
    • Cat6 installation, termination, and testing
    • Telecom and structured cabling
    • Fire alarm device installation (non-licensed tasks)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Familiarity with NEC codes for low-voltage installations
  • Ability to install racks, mount APs/cameras/panels, and perform system testing
  • Must supply your own hand tools, cordless drill, and punch-down tools
  • Must be willing to travel nationwide 100% of the time

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
