Description
1. Build the Observability Vision & Strategy - Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive observability ecosystem across: - Restaurant systems (in-store / POS / edge) - E-commerce platforms - Cloud infrastructure - International websites and applications - Vendor-hosted platforms (Oracle, NCR, loyalty vendors) - Establish a centralized visibility model to eliminate fragmented monitoring and reactive incident detection - Define standards for monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and telemetry 2. Architect a Multi-Platform Monitoring Ecosystem - Evaluate current tooling (e.g., Datadog) and determine: - Scalability across international environments - Cost efficiency and enterprise viability - Perform vendor and tool assessments to determine: - Best-fit platforms - Integration feasibility - Long-term sustainability - Design an architecture that enables: - Cross-platform observability - Vendor system integration - Real-time issue detection and proactive alerting 3. End-to-End System Visibility & Integration - Ensure observability across: - Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) - Third-party/vendor systems - POS environments and edge devices - Determine the right level of monitoring (e.g., system-level vs device-level vs transaction-level) - Create data flows and instrumentation strategies across distributed systems 4. Drive Implementation & Execution - Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for observability tools and approaches - Guide implementation including: - Tool configuration - Integration design - Deployment - Testing and validation - Partner with: - Solution architects - Engineers and product teams - External vendors 5. Introduce and Shape DevOps & SRE Foundations - Help define how DevOps practices integrate into the observability platform - Introduce capabilities such as: - Deployment visibility - Operational readiness - Automated alerting and response - Lay the groundwork to build a future SRE function from scratch 6. Establish Operational Excellence - Improve: - Incident detection and response - Root cause analysis processes - System reliability and uptime - Address current gaps where issues were not proactively detected - Create dashboards and alerting frameworks for proactive monitoring 7. Long-Term Program Ownership & Growth - Operate as a foundational hire for observability and reliability engineering - Potential to: - Build and lead an SRE team - Define operational standards and best practices - Support ongoing system expansion, including: - New digital products - Loyalty platforms - International growth initiatives

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
