Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an ASSISTANT ENGINEER for a FULL TIME assignment with one of our premier UTILITY clients in CROMWELL, CT .

This entry-level engineering position will support the planning, design, and implementation of capital improvement and infrastructure projects. The role offers an opportunity to gain exposure to engineering design, permitting, construction support, and project coordination within a regulated utility environment.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design and execution of infrastructure and capital improvement projects.
  • Support engineering teams in developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and construction-related activities.
  • Assist with permitting applications and regulatory approval processes.
  • Coordinate project documentation, schedules, and engineering deliverables.
  • Support construction administration and project implementation efforts.
  • Maintain engineering records, as-built drawings, and operations and maintenance documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, project requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Perform additional engineering and project support activities as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and infrastructure project delivery.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and support project teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Exposure to hydraulic analysis and engineering design concepts.
  • GIS experience.
  • AutoCAD or similar CAD software experience.
  • Experience supporting water, wastewater, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes, technical documentation, and construction support activities.
