FTT will require proof of status prior to employment. General Job Summary:The Tool Maker is responsible for designing, modifying, and constructing precision tools used in the production process of various industries. They are responsible for creating jigs, fixtures, molds, and gauges that are used to manufacture products in mechanical or electronic settings, ensuring that they are accurate and efficient.
Essential Job Functions:- Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or molds.
- Set up and operate conventional machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders, to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges.
- Develop and design new tools and dies using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.

Experience and Skills- Proficient in using machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in machining, tool and die making, or related field is preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in tool making or related field required.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements: - Work performed in a combination of office, laboratory, and manufacturing facility environments.
- Test lab facility working with machinery.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required while performing tasks needing protection per health and safety requirements.
- Physical effort will be required such as lifting materials and packaging, reaching, grasping, bending, holding, seeing, eye hand coordination, sitting and standing for long periods of time, climbing, and moving about.
