Role Overview

The Credentialed Trainer (CT) works under the direction of the Epic Training Manager and partners with Principal Trainers (PTs) to deliver high-quality Epic application training and educational support to clinical and non-clinical staff. The role focuses on ensuring end users achieve proficiency in Epic workflows, documentation, and data entry processes through classroom instruction, individualized coaching, and go-live support. Credentialed Trainers also contribute to curriculum improvements and assist with testing training environments and system upgrades before production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Conduct instructor-led training sessions (in-person and virtual) for physicians, clinicians, and non-clinical staff.
  • Facilitate study halls, user settings labs, and interactive learning sessions.
  • Apply adult learning principles to maximize learner engagement and retention.

2. Classroom & Training Environment Management

  • Prepare physical and virtual classrooms, training materials, and participant rosters.
  • Ensure all learning resources and technology platforms are ready before training sessions.
  • Address learner questions and provide timely follow-up support.

3. Competency Assessment & Performance Tracking

  • Administer end-user proficiency assessments.
  • Monitor learner readiness and report training outcomes.
  • Support efforts to ensure staff are prepared for live system usage.

4. Curriculum Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Collect and analyze training feedback and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Principal Trainers to refine lesson plans, job aids, and training materials.
  • Assist in developing user support resources and reference guides.

5. Go-Live & End-User Support

  • Provide at-the-elbow support during Epic go-live events.
  • Assist users in navigating workflows and resolving issues in real-time clinical environments.
  • Serve as a resource for troubleshooting and workflow guidance.

6. System Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Test training environments, lesson plans, and workflows.
  • Validate training content against system upgrades and new Epic builds.
  • Ensure training materials accurately reflect current system functionality.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain Epic Credentialed Trainer status within 6 weeks of assignment, including:
    • Completion of assigned Epic training tracks.
    • Successful teach-back presentations.
    • Passing credentialing examinations with a minimum score of 85%.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing training content and delivery methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom.
  • Enthusiasm for technology adoption and commitment to promoting Epic best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in adult education, instructional design, or learning management systems (e.g., Cornerstone OnDemand).
  • Previous training, facilitation, coaching, or preceptor experience.
  • Healthcare or clinical environment experience.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and practices.
  • Prior Epic Credentialed Trainer certification or Epic implementation experience.
