Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Senior Reporting Engineer (SSRS / Power BI) for a Right-To-Hire contract assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in Dallas, TX. This is a hybrid role with 1-2 days onsite currently.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Reporting Engineer to support a growing Capital Markets technology team focused on Structured Credit and Mortgage platforms. This role will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and building reporting solutions leveraging SQL Server, SSRS, and Power BI.

This is a highly visible, business-facing role requiring strong technical expertise in reporting and data, along with the ability to work directly with stakeholders in a fast-paced, real-time environment. The initial focus will be supporting and stabilizing existing reporting capabilities, with the opportunity to contribute to future enhancements and platform evolution.

Responsibilities:
  • Support, maintain, and enhance existing SSRS and Power BI reports
  • Analyze and understand existing reporting logic, data flows, and RDL files
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time, ensuring minimal disruption to business users
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement report enhancements
  • Develop new reports and dashboards based on evolving business needs
  • Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance and coordinate with DBA teams as needed
  • Validate and test reporting outputs (functional, regression, and performance testing)
  • Assist with deployment and debugging of reporting solutions
  • Participate in a fast-paced, operational support environment with incoming requests
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting architecture and tooling over time
  • Contribute to longer-term roadmap initiatives including potential UI and API development
Required Skills:
  • 5-8+ years of experience in reporting, data engineering, or software engineering roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) including RDL files, report development, deployment, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Power BI including report/dashboard development and data modeling
  • Advanced SQL skills with strong experience in SQL Server
  • Experience working with large datasets and reporting databases
  • Python (preferred) or Java development experience
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace
  • Experience in UNIX/Linux environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and production support experience in time-sensitive environments
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Capital Markets or financial services experience
  • Experience with APIs, microservices, or backend development
  • Frontend/UI experience (React, Angular)
  • Experience working in real-time or high-availability environments
