Network Performance Engineer, Netscout
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Network Performance Engineer with deep expertise in Netscout technologies to join Denver-based infrastructure team. This role is critical to maintaining the health and performance of the enterprise network, supporting day-to-day infrastructure operations, and designing and implementing advanced dashboards that provide real-time visibility into network performance. The ideal candidate brings hands-on Netscout experience, a strong foundation in network engineering, and a knack for translating data into actionable visual insights.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Support
Monitor, support, and troubleshoot the client's enterprise network infrastructure using Netscout nGeniusONE and InfiniStream platforms
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Netscout tools, providing Tier 2/3 support for network performance incidents
Identify and resolve network anomalies, packet loss, latency, and application performance degradation
Collaborate with NOC, network engineering, and applications teams to correlate performance data and drive root-cause analysis
Maintain and optimize Netscout probe and InfiniStream appliance deployments across key network segments
Support change management activities, ensuring network changes are validated with pre/post performance comparisons Dashboard Design & Implementation
Design, build, and maintain real-time performance dashboards within nGeniusONE and other visualization platforms (e.g., Grafana, Splunk, or similar)
Translate network KPIs and SLA metrics into intuitive, executive-ready dashboards for IT leadership and operations teams
Develop custom views, reports, and alerts that enable proactive identification of performance trends and capacity issues
Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and iterate dashboard designs based on operational feedback
Document dashboard standards, data sources, and refresh processes for ongoing maintainability General Engineering Responsibilities
Participate in capacity planning and performance baselining efforts
Contribute to network architecture discussions, providing performance data to support infrastructure investment decisions
Author and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and technical documentation
Support on-call rotation and participate in major incident response as needed
Required Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on experience with Netscout platforms (nGeniusONE, InfiniStream, nGenius Pulse, or ASI)
Strong working knowledge of network protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, VLANs
Experience with packet capture analysis and deep packet inspection (DPI) tools
Demonstrated ability to design and implement network performance dashboards
Proficiency troubleshooting Layer 2 7 network issues in large enterprise or service provider environments
Experience with SNMP, NetFlow/IPFIX, and syslog integration for monitoring and alerting
Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with additional monitoring tools: SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Grafana, or AppDynamics
Scripting/automation skills (Python, Ansible, or Bash) to enhance monitoring workflows
Cisco CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent industry certification
Experience with SD-WAN, cloud networking (AWS/Azure), or hybrid network environments
Knowledge of ITSM platforms (ServiceNow) and ITIL processes
