RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is Senior Software Engineer - Core Commerce in the Chicagoland area (Onsite Monday - Thursday).
Overview:
Our client is delivering a next-generation B2B eCommerce platform serving fleet operators, dealers, and commercial vehicle parts buyers across North America. Built on a headless commerce architecture using Spryker Cloud Commerce OS, the platform integrates with ERP, DMS, OMS, and third-party systems to provide real-time pricing, inventory, ordering, and product intelligence.
With a major dealer rollout targeted for 2026, the team is expanding its Core Commerce engineering organization and seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale critical commerce capabilities.
Key Tasks:
* Develop and deliver production-grade backend solutions within Spryker Cloud Commerce OS
* Build and maintain APIs and integrations connecting commerce, ERP, OMS, and dealer management platforms
* Design and implement order management, pricing, inventory, returns, and fulfillment workflows
* Create scalable backend services and commerce modules supporting high-volume transactions
* Design and optimize relational database structures and data models
* Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and data consistency issues in production
* Lead code reviews and establish engineering best practices
* Mentor engineers and collaborate closely with architects and cross-functional teams
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior backend engineer with strong eCommerce platform experience to help deliver a large-scale digital commerce initiative supporting a critical customer rollout.
REQUIREMENTS:
* 8+ years of backend software engineering experience
* Strong PHP development experience in enterprise environments
* Hands-on experience with Spryker Cloud Commerce OS preferred
* Candidates with SAP Commerce (Hybris), commercetools, Magento Enterprise, Shopware, or similar enterprise commerce platforms will also be considered
* Deep understanding of eCommerce architecture and transaction flows
Experience with:
* Order Management
* Inventory Management
* Pricing Engines
* Customer-Facing Commerce Applications
* Platform Integrations
* Strong REST and GraphQL API development experience
* Experience integrating with ERP, OMS, and other enterprise systems
* Strong SQL experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
* Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, and scalable backend architectures
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
* Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and cloud-native development practices
Preferred Experience:

* Automotive or Parts Commerce
* VIN, Catalog, Fitment, and Product Data Management

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
