Software Engineer (Node.js)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is looking for a Software Engineer (Node.js) in San Diego, CA. This is onsite in downtown San Diego, CA.

Summary:
Our client is looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to support and enhance internal operational systems that drive inventory movement, warehouse execution, and order processing. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the stack, improving existing platforms, and helping modernize legacy business applications into scalable cloud-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support and enhance business-critical applications used for inventory control, fulfillment workflows, and warehouse operations
* Partner with engineering leadership to transition legacy tools and spreadsheet-driven processes into modern web applications and backend services
* Develop and maintain APIs, backend services, and database functionality that support high-volume operational workflows
* Contribute to frontend development efforts using modern JavaScript frameworks to improve usability and responsiveness across internal tools
* Help improve platform stability through monitoring, troubleshooting, logging, and performance optimization initiatives
* Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to deliver enhancements, resolve production issues, and maintain development standards
* Create and maintain technical documentation for workflows

REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting production applications
* Strong development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript in backend environments such as Node.js
* Hands-on experience working with relational databases, including schema design, query tuning, and database migrations
* Familiarity with React or similar frontend frameworks for building internal business applications
* Experience participating in modernization initiatives involving legacy platforms, internal tooling, or system migrations
* Exposure to cloud-based environments and data platforms is helpful
* Understanding of operational systems such as supply chain, warehouse operations, fulfillment, or ERP-style workflows is a plus
* Comfortable working in collaborative environments where requirements may evolve and problem-solving is highly valued

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
