Desktop Support Technician

M/E Engineering is interviewing for a Desktop Support Technician in our Schenectady, NY office for our growing information technology team. Job Summary

The Desktop Support Technician provides onsite and remote employee technical support.

Onsite Location: Schenectady NY

Essential Functions

• Maintains desktops, printers, and mobile devices for engineers, administrative staff, and the leadership team
• Responds to the needs of various questions of network users concerning hardware, access to resources, and the operation of various software programs.
• Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories, and security.
• Manages operating systems and data backups for the local office
• Troubleshoots entry-level network problems, escalating to the Network Engineer and Network Manager as needed
• Maintains and operates office audio including visual equipment necessary for critical business communications
• Coordinates software and hardware upgrades under the direction of the Network Manager and Network Engineer.
• Communicates with office partners to develop office technology needs to be escalated to the Network Manager and the Director of Information Technology
• Trains users on new and modified equipment.
• Responds to occasional off-hours or weekend network emergencies.
• Travels to other M/E Engineering offices to attend meetings and to cover time off for team members occasionally
• Works with other regional IT team members and managers to collaborate on successful deployment of enterprise-wide initiatives.

Education and Experience

• Associate's degree and/or bachelor's degree in information technology, or related discipline a plus (Telecommunications, MIS, CS, CE, Software Engineering, Math or related)
• Computer Information Technology entry level certification(s) such as CompTIA A+ or Network + preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle office materials, tools and controls, reach with hands and/or arms, push and pull objects, speak, and hear. Finger dexterity and field of vision is required.
• The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 20 pounds.
• The noise level in the office is usually low to moderate.

Compensation

• The compensation range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour.
