About the Job

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Windows Desktop Engineer to design, deploy, secure, and support enterprise Windows endpoint environments. In this role, you will own Windows image engineering, hardware lifecycle management, and modern device provisioning using MECM and Intune. You will serve as a subject matter expert for advanced Windows and hardware issues while helping drive standardization, security, and operational excellence across the endpoint ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

Windows Hardware & Lifecycle Management:

Manage enterprise Windows hardware standards and specifications.

Lead annual hardware transitions in partnership with PC vendors (e.g., Dell).

Test, validate, and certify new hardware models for compatibility and performance.

Build and maintain hardware documentation and standards in SharePoint.

Perform bi-annual driver updates across all supported hardware models.

Manage hardware lab operations including racking, cabling, testing, and asset disposal.

Provide third-level escalation support for complex hardware-related issues.

Windows Image & OS Management:

Design, build, and maintain standardized Windows images.

Perform quarterly image patching and maintenance.

Plan, test, and deploy Windows OS upgrades, ensuring completion prior to end-of-life dates.

Implement OS hardening and secure configurations aligned with CIS benchmarks.

Provide third-level escalation support for advanced Windows operating system issues.

Diagnose and remediate complex OS failures, deployment issues, and performance problems.

OS Provisioning & Modern Management:

Lead Windows OS provisioning initiatives.

Maintain and update WinPE boot media.

Design, update, and support MECM task sequences.

Design, manage, and support Intune Autopilot deployments.

Maintain MDT scripts, user interfaces, and workflows.

Provide third-level support for SCCM imaging and Intune/Autopilot issues.

Manage the Company Portal, including application publishing and installation support.

Assist with MECM client upgrades, troubleshooting, and support.

Browser & Endpoint Configuration:

Act as SME for web browsers, including Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.

Manage browser policies, extension approvals, and IE Mode site lists.

Maintain Group Policy and Active Directory configurations for endpoints.

Collaboration & Documentation:

Develop and maintain clear OS and hardware documentation.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders, vendors, and customers.

Participate in roadmap reviews and approve standards and specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

4+ years of experience supporting Windows endpoints and enterprise hardware environments.

Hands-on experience with Windows image building and deployment.

Experience with MECM/SCCM, Intune, and MDT.

Proficiency with task sequences, WinPE, and driver management.

Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.

Scripting experience in at least one language (PowerShell or VBScript preferred).

Proven experience troubleshooting advanced Windows OS and deployment issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of advanced experience with Windows OS architecture, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Experience supporting a globally distributed, multinational enterprise environment.

5+ years of experience with MECM, Intune, SCORCH, and GPO management.

Experience with patching strategies, vulnerability remediation, and compliance enforcement.

Familiarity with SQL and Power BI reporting (preferred, not required).

Development experience using Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, or web services (preferred, not required).
