Job Overview:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead architectural design and strategy for complex mainframe systems including z/OS, Db2, CICS, storage, security, and MQ components.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical architecture models aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning for optimal efficiency and capacity.
  • Ensure system scalability, high availability, and security, including implementation of backup and recovery strategies.
  • Define and execute modernization strategies to transform legacy systems and integrate with cloud platforms, microservices, and APIs.
  • Lead migration of workloads and data across platforms to support digital transformation initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development and infrastructure teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues and provide Level 3 support for middleware and system components.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including architecture designs, configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Establish and enforce architecture governance, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to align solutions with business objectives.

Required Skills And Experience:

  • Strong expertise in mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, REXX, PL/I, and Assembler.
  • Deep knowledge of z/OS operating system and mainframe architecture.
  • Experience with JCL utilities such as SORT and IEBGENER.
  • Proficiency with debugging and testing tools such as IBM Debug Tool and Xpeditor.
  • Experience with change management tools such as Endeavor and SCLM.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Experience in system performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Strong understanding of system security, high availability, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Ability to develop long-term technology strategies and transformation roadmaps.
