Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Center Operations Technician for a long-term contract role. The position involves supporting the buildout and maintenance of data center systems. This role requires hands-on work to configure, deploy, and maintain hardware for computer systems, servers, and networking solutions within a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain server and storage equipment.
- Ensure equipment is installed, repaired, or re-configured correctly and promptly.
- Manage asset inventory, including shipping, receiving, asset tracking, and inventory audits.
- Update, add, and close incident activity in one or more tracking systems.
- Monitor tickets and manage them appropriately, responding to requests for technical support.
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and secure work area.
- Assist in producing and maintaining training manuals, policies, checklists, and procedures.
- Be available for rotational on-call duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience maintaining storage and/or server equipment in a data center environment. Candidates should have experience with hands-on troubleshooting, configuration, and repair or replacement of technology.
Skills: Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, documentation skills, and time management skills. Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field is required. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with iSCSI storage.
- Experience with HP servers.
- Experience with Dell servers and storage.
Work Environment
- This role is 100% on-site at a data center.
- The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
- The work schedule is four 10-hour shifts, Friday through Monday, from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is $25.00 per hour. The role includes 10 days of paid time off and holiday pay that aligns with the federal holiday schedule, including the week between Christmas and New Year's.
