Job Title: Mainframe IMS Engineer / IMS System Programmer
Location: Remote – US

Job Description:

Seeking an experienced Mainframe IMS Engineer to install, configure, maintain, and support IBM IMS Database (IMS DB) and IMS Transaction Manager (IMS TM) environments. The candidate will be responsible for IMS system programming, database administration, performance tuning, upgrades, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and production incident resolution.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM IMS DB and IMS TM

  • IMS SYSGEN, DBD, PSB, ACB, DBRC, and IMS Connect

  • IMS databases: Full Function, HALDB, Fast Path (DEDB), HIDAM, HDAM, HISAM, and HSAM

  • Mainframe tools: z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, JES2, SDSF, and SMP/E

  • IMS installation, maintenance, upgrades, and PTF implementation

  • IMS database backup, recovery, reorganization, and performance tuning

  • Production troubleshooting, dump analysis, abend resolution, and root cause analysis

  • IMS integration with DB2, CICS, MQ, RACF, and z/OS

  • Disaster recovery planning, testing, and high-availability support

  • Change management, CAB processes, and technical documentation

Preferred Skills: IMS Parallel Sysplex, Shared Queues, REXX scripting, IMS monitoring tools, ITIL, and experience in banking or insurance environments.
