Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to analyze, design, develop, and support applications that integrate with existing business components. This role involves developing solutions for new and existing project requirements, coordinating with business stakeholders to understand needs, and analyzing the impact of change requests. The position requires proactive communication on work progress and the swift resolution of application and process issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, enhance, and support integrated applications using established processes and technologies.
- Develop and support new project requirements by coordinating with business teams to define and analyze needs.
- Perform comprehensive analysis of application and process issues, including problem identification and coordination with support teams.
- Communicate work progress to management, identifying and resolving potential issues to minimize project impact.
- Develop complex Teradata SQL-based ETL and analytic workflows using native utilities such as BTEQ, TPT, and Fastexport.
- Utilize Unix/Linux shell scripting and scheduling tools like Autosys for workflow automation.
- Work with Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, Impala, Kafka, and Python/Spark workloads.
- Operate within a CI/CD based development and deployment framework using tools like JIRA and BitBucket.
Required Qualifications
Education: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
Experience:- A minimum of 4 years of experience with end-to-end application development on Teradata data warehouse and analytical platforms.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with end-to-end application development on Big Data technologies, specifically Hadoop Hive and PySpark.
Technical Skills:- Extensive experience with Teradata SQL, including native utilities (BTEQ, TPT, Fastexport).
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripting and job scheduling (e.g., Autosys).
- Experience with Big Data tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, Impala, Kafka, and Python/Spark/PySpark.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD tools, including JIRA and BitBucket.
- Strong command of SQL and Python.
Professional Skills:- Excellent written, verbal, and diagramming communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a global team environment and collaborate with business partners.
- A positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications in Teradata, Hadoop, or Big Data.
- Experience conducting discussions with business owners to streamline requirements.
- Background in preparing unit test plans, performing code reviews, and managing builds.
Compensation
The pay rate for this position is between $60.00 and $65.06 per hour.
