AI Lead Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an AI Lead Engineer in Houston, TX, to support multiple active and upcoming AI initiatives across the organization.

Summary:
This role will serve as the technical and execution lead for AI projects, initially operating as a solo contributor and later growing into a people leader responsible for building and managing a small team of engineers. The ideal candidate brings a strong data science and AI foundation, the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions, and experience leading delivery across multiple projects or product lines. This role is execution-focused, with projects and business cases assigned directly to the lead, enabling rapid value delivery rather than extended discovery.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong background in data science and AI, with the ability to explain core concepts and technical tradeoffs
* Proven experience leading or coordinating work across multiple AI projects simultaneously
* Hands-on experience with enterprise AI platforms or infrastructure (e.g., AI Foundry, Azure Stack)
* Experience working in consulting or large enterprise environments
* Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver results in an evolving environment
* Comfort transitioning from a hands-on individual contributor role to a people leadership role over time

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
