Role 1: Senior GenAI / NLP Architect (Hybrid- Chicago)Role SummaryThe Senior GenAI / NLP Architect will serve as the technical lead for the initiative, responsible for solution architecture, GenAI design decisions, and hands-on delivery of core components. This individual will work closely with Network Planning stakeholders, partner teams (MARS, Cloud Engineering, Security), and provide technical mentorship to the broader team.
Location & Working Model- Chicago-based
- Onsite 2-3 days per week (flexible; approximately 5-6 days per month minimum)
Key Responsibilities- Lead architecture and design of a scalable, multi-agent GenAI solution aligned to United standards.
- Design and implement LLM-based NLP solutions leveraging existing knowledge bases and structured reports.
- Define agent orchestration patterns, prompt strategies, routing logic, and response traceability.
- Collaborate with United's MARS platform team to ensure proper use of approved models, guardrails, and deployment patterns.
- Deliver initial use cases end-to-end into production, including design, build, testing, and release.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to Network Planning team members.
- Participate in technical interviews and contribute to evaluating additional GenAI resources as needed.
Required Skills & Experience- Strong experience designing and implementing GenAI / NLP solutions using LLMs.
- Hands-on experience with pre-trained language models and prompt engineering.
- Experience designing cloud-based architectures (AWS preferred).
- Familiarity with multi-agent or agent-orchestrated AI patterns.
- Proficiency in Python; Julia experience strongly preferred (or willingness to ramp quickly).
- Ability to work within enterprise AI governance, security, and compliance constraints.
Nice to Have- Machine Learning background (to support future diagnostic and optimization use cases).
- Experience explaining AI outputs to non-technical stakeholders.
