Senior Systems Analyst, HRIS
Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Preferred Boston, MA (open to remote candidates)
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Analyst, HRIS to serve as a strategic and technical lead for HR systems. This role is responsible for driving system optimization, leading complex configurations, and supporting cross-functional initiatives across HR, IT, Finance, and Payroll.
The ideal candidate will design scalable solutions, lead system enhancements, and ensure HR technology aligns with business objectives while maintaining data integrity and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across HRIS platforms (e.g., Core HR, Benefits, Recruiting, Performance, Compensation)
Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of complex HRIS solutions
Evaluate system capabilities and recommend enhancements aligned with business needs
Drive continuous improvement of HR technology and data governance practices
Configure and maintain workflows, eligibility rules, and system security
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex system and integration issues
Partner with IT on interface design, testing, and ongoing system monitoring
Manage vendor relationships for assigned HRIS platforms and components
Lead HRIS projects including implementations, upgrades, and system expansions
Own end-to-end testing strategies (unit, integration, and user acceptance testing)
Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications
Develop advanced reporting and analytics to support business decision-making
Establish reporting standards and ensure data quality and governance controls
Mentor and guide HRIS analysts, reviewing work for accuracy and consistency
Influence stakeholders and support decision-making related to HR technology
Support recruiting workflows and hiring processes through system optimization
Provide technical support for benefits administration and related HR functions
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5–10+ years of progressive HRIS experience
Deep expertise in at least one major HRIS platform (e.g., PeopleSoft, BrassRing, Cornerstone OnDemand)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex system challenges
Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and scalable solutions
Experience with HR systems, reporting, and system configuration best practices
Knowledge of SQL, Visual Basic, or PeopleCode preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (O365) and data analysis tools
Deep understanding of HR processes across the employee lifecycle (hire-to-retire)
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders
Proven ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and prioritize effectively
