Summary

The Network Engineer II is responsible for the integration of new systems into the network that follow enterprise standards and best practices. Works with network engineering leadership and Network Engineer III to define optimal network upgrade paths and improvements to the network systems. Supports day-to-day requests and incidents, as well as monitoring the network systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Collaborates with department leaders and Information Technology architecture on the integration of new systems into the network in a matter client with applicable standards.
2. Defines the most optimal upgrade and improvement paths for network systems and tools and supports the improvement deployment.
3. Responsible for troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating day-to-day network issues.
4. Maintains continuous awareness of network products, services, and industry standards and shares new information with other engineers.
5. Maintains the network monitoring, alerting and analytics platforms for the corresponding network systems.
6. Responsible for the proactive monitoring and performance validation of network and communications systems.
7. Collaborates with other engineers and architecture team members on the design and deployment of the enterprise network infrastructure.
8. Responsible for analyzing and resolving complex network issues in a timely manner.
9. Creates and maintains documentation relating to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
10. Performs other duties as assigned to support the e?cient operation of the department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience of in-depth network engineering role required.
  • Experience with network providers such as Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)/Aruba, and Meraki is required.
  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewall Management and F5 Load Balancers is preferred.
  • Experience with Network Access Control and Software Defined Networks is preferred.
  • Must have experience documenting network procedures and designs.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
  • Certifications may be considered in lieu of education (IT only).


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
  • Must have strong attention to detail, and written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work on-call on a rotational basis for technical support is required.
  • Ability to work well independently in the absence of supervision and under pressure such as strict deadlines.


LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise Core, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Palo Alto Networks Certification, and VeloCloud SD-WAN Certification are preferred.
  • Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS - ENVIRONMENT

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
