Mobile SDET in the
Austin, TX area to join a fast-paced, Tier-1 crypto platform team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions for modern mobile applications across iOS and Android. You will work with cutting-edge technology, collaborate with distributed engineering teams, and directly impact the quality and reliability of critical mobile user experiences.
This role requires strong mobile automation expertise, hands-on Java coding ability, and a passion for delivering high-quality software in a rapid development environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesTest Development & Automation- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using XCUI (iOS), Espresso (Android), and Appium.
- Build and execute automation frameworks for functional, regression, and smoke testing.
- Develop comprehensive test plans covering new features, edge cases, and complex scenarios.
- Collaborate with developers to identify testable acceptance criteria and ensure coverage of high-risk areas.
Test Execution & Quality Assurance- Execute both manual and automated tests across iOS and Android platforms.
- Perform post-deployment validation of backend services, APIs, and app logic.
- Conduct regression testing during release cycles to ensure stability and reliability.
- Log, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and severity indicators.
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work closely with developers, Product Owners, and QA Leads to clarify requirements and ensure business alignment.
- Participate in refinement sessions, identifying gaps or risks early.
- Lead or contribute to daily standups, providing accurate status updates and flagging blockers.
- Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams.
Process Improvement & Leadership- Contribute to the evolution of QA processes, frameworks, and test methodologies.
- Promote QA best practices across the engineering organization.
- Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, automation efficiency, and quality metrics.
- Mentor junior QA team members on tools, strategy, and automation best practices.
Quality Metrics & Reporting- Track and report key quality indicators such as test coverage, defect trends, and release readiness.
- Communicate quality risks, impacts, and dependencies to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate documentation of testing results and processes.
Education & Experience Requirements- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of mobile application testing (iOS and/or Android).
- 3+ years developing, maintaining, and executing mobile automation frameworks.
- Proven success building automated test suites using XCUI, Espresso, and/or Appium.
Technical Skills- Strong proficiency in Java or another object-oriented programming language.
- Hands-on experience with mobile automation frameworks: XCUI, Espresso, Appium.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr).
- Solid understanding of mobile development lifecycles for iOS and Android.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
Soft Skills & Abilities- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage concurrent testing efforts across global teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently or within a team.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience using GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI coding tools.
- Experience with MCP Server.
- Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Swift.
- Strong knowledge of Appium for cross-platform automation.
- Background in financial services, crypto, or trading platforms.
- Understanding of security testing and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
