Job Summary:As a Continuous Improvement Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for utilizing your engineering expertise, data engineering skills, and financial knowledge to support our Cost Engineering team and enhance decision-making processes. You will support our capital cost forecasting and AFE creation custom software while playing a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing data engineering solutions to collect, process, and analyze large volumes of diverse data generated. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and security, while leveraging advanced analytics and data visualizations driving actionable insights into improving capital accuracy and efficiency.
Job Duties:- Manage and support capital cost forecasting and AFE creation custom software, prioritizing incidents and enhancements.
- Drive capital cost forecasting process across all represented functions and collaborate with BPS Analytics to design custom software changes that support cost forecasting strategy.
- Oversee the AFE lifecycle: own AFE readiness (supporting the LS2Spud process) and post-job AFE compliance.
- Perform financial analysis and modeling to support budgeting and forecasting, integrating engineering and execution data with financial information.
- Design, develop, and implement data engineering solutions to collect, process, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources.
- Apply statistical analysis techniques to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data to support decision-making and risk assessment.
- Design and implement dashboards and visualizations to present key performance indicators (KPIs), financial metrics, and project execution insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Challenge the status quo, identifying, developing, and implementing enhanced process efficiencies.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate cost allocation, tracking of capital expenditures, and compliance with financial reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and maintain data models, databases, and data pipelines to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and security.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- Minimum 4 years of industry experience with cross functional experience preferred.
- Experience in field execution (drilling, completions, operations, or facilities) required.
- Solid understanding of project management principles, cost control techniques, and financial analysis.
- Experience in data engineering, including data integration, data cleansing, and data modeling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret cost data from complex datasets, deriving meaningful insights and actionable solutions.
- Excellent numerical and financial acumen, with the ability to work with complex financial models, budgets, and cost control systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively present technical and financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of industry-standard cost engineering software, such as Oracle Primavera Unifier or similar cost management tools. Familiarity with financial systems and tools (e.g., ERP systems, financial modeling software, WellView) and ability to integrate financial data with engineering and operational data.
- Familiarity with data modeling techniques, data warehousing concepts, and database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Spotfire, Power BI, or similar platforms, with the ability to create visually compelling and interactive dashboards preferred.
- Self-motivated and adaptable to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
