Overview:We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician with strong experience in workstation deployment, operating system support, and independent troubleshooting. This role focuses on imaging, hardware upgrades, Windows 7/10 support, and providing reliable customer service while working primarily with limited supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesktop Deployment & Imaging- Image and deploy devices using enterprise imaging tools such as SCCM, MDT, Ghost, or similar solutions.
- Perform operating system upgrades and hardware refreshes, including migration to Windows 10.
- Support large-scale deployment initiatives, ensuring consistent configuration and adherence to organizational standards.
Windows 7/10 Support- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems in a networked environment.
- Assist with user account administration, including adding and removing users within the network.
- Diagnose OS-level performance issues, application errors, connectivity problems, and other workstation-related challenges.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting- Provide frontline support for PCs, peripherals, and software to ensure minimal downtime for end users.
- Independently handle break/fix incidents, escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and quality checks during overnight or unsupervised shifts.
Customer Service & Communication- Deliver clear, professional communication with end users, peers, and management regarding status updates, issue resolutions, and shift handoffs.
- Work successfully in a self-directed role, demonstrating strong reliability, responsibility, and initiative.
- Document activities, update tickets accurately, and ensure smooth coordination across IT teams.
Qualifications- Experience with desktop support and enterprise imaging solutions (SCCM, MDT, Ghost, etc.).
- At least 1 year of hands-on support with Windows 7/10.
- Ability to work independently, especially during overnight or low-supervision shifts.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Windows networking environments and basic user administration.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50/hr.
