Functional Consultant Power Platform (End-to-End Business Process Ownership, AI-Enabled)
We are seeking a highly skilled Functional Solution Architect to bridge business requirements, enterprise systems, user experience design, and delivery execution across a modern AI-assisted engineering organization.
This is not a traditional Functional Consultant role focused primarily on documentation. This role is responsible for transforming business requirements into functional solution designs, working prototypes, and implementation-ready delivery artifacts that accelerate engineering execution.
The Functional Solution Architect serves as the operational bridge between business stakeholders, architecture, and engineering teams. They are expected to deeply understand the platforms, systems, integrations, workflows, and user experiences that support the business and use that knowledge to rapidly shape scalable functional solutions.
This role operates within a prototype-first and AI-assisted delivery model where prototypes, structured work items, and agent-assisted decomposition replace many traditional heavy documentation processes.
Core Responsibilities
Business & Functional Solution Analysis
* Analyze and refine Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) with business stakeholders.
* Translate business requirements into scalable functional solution designs.
* Identify business process impacts, operational considerations, dependencies, and integration requirements.
* Facilitate collaborative design sessions with business, architecture, and engineering teams.
* Drive clarity across workflows, user journeys, system interactions, and business rules.
Prototype-Driven Functional Design
* Rapidly create functional prototypes and solution flows to validate requirements and accelerate delivery readiness.
* Use prototypes as the primary mechanism for:
* business alignment,
* workflow validation,
* user experience design,
* and implementation planning.
* Partner with architects and engineers to ensure prototypes align with enterprise architecture standards and platform capabilities.
* Design solutions that account for:
* user experience,
* data flow,
* integrations,
* automation,
* reporting,
* business rules and operational workflows.
Delivery Planning & Work Item Generation
* Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to convert validated prototypes into structured implementation work items.
* Use AI-assisted tooling and local agents to accelerate:
* feature decomposition,
* user story generation,
* acceptance criteria creation,
* dependency mapping,
* and implementation planning.
* Ensure delivery artifacts provide sufficient functional and business context for both engineering teams and AI-assisted development workflows.
* Support backlog refinement and sprint readiness activities.
Delivery Enablement & Functional Leadership
* Act as the primary functional authority during implementation.
* Support engineering teams throughout development, testing, deployment, and production readiness activities.
* Clarify business intent, workflow behavior, and functional expectations during delivery.
* Partner with QA, architects, developers, and product teams to validate solution behavior against prototype intent.
* Support UAT preparation and business operational readiness.
Technology & Platform Responsibilities
The Functional Solution Architect must develop deep expertise across the organization's technology ecosystem, including:
* Microsoft Power Platform
* Power Apps
* Dataverse
* Power Automate
* Copilot Studio
* Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O)
* Modern Single Page Applications (SPA)
* Enterprise integrations and API-driven architectures
* Cloud-native application and workflow patterns across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services AWS environments
Emerging AI & Delivery Responsibilities
This role is expected to operate within an evolving AI-assisted SDLC and delivery model, including:
* Leveraging AI-assisted tooling and local agents to accelerate design and delivery preparation.
* Participating in prototype-first and agentic delivery workflows.
* Supporting AI-assisted decomposition and implementation planning.
* Helping evolve delivery standards, functional patterns, and reusable accelerators.
* Driving reduction in delivery friction and improving engineering readiness.
Required Qualifications
* 7+ years of experience in Functional Architecture, Solution Design, Systems Analysis, or Enterprise Functional Consulting.
* Strong experience translating business requirements into scalable enterprise solutions.
* Experience supporting enterprise application ecosystems and integrated business platforms.
* Strong understanding of:
* business process modeling,
* integrations,
* APIs,
* workflow orchestration,
* data-driven applications,
* and enterprise solution patterns.
* Experience creating prototypes, workflows, and implementation-ready functional designs.
* Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
* Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with AI-assisted development workflows and modern SDLC practices.
* Experience supporting enterprise product delivery teams.
* Familiarity with prototype-first delivery approaches.
* Experience working across low-code and custom engineering ecosystems.
* Experience collaborating closely with architects and engineering leads in large-scale enterprise environments.
