RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client, a large financial services organization in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Software Engineer IV for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting technology within the fraud space.
Summary:
This is a highly hands-on engineering role focused primarily on backend development, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture. You'll spend approximately 80-90% of your time in hands-on software development, working primarily with C# and .NET. Although the role includes full-stack development, the day-to-day work is heavily weighted toward the backend, with limited frontend development. You'll work as part of an Agile team alongside other experienced developers as well as offshore and junior team members.
What You'll Do:
* Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using C# and .NET
* Build and maintain REST APIs and backend services
* Design and develop applications using microservices architecture
* Develop and support event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka and Confluent Kafka
* Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions
* Troubleshoot, enhance, and maintain existing applications and services
* Work as part of an Agile development team
* Collaborate with other developers and technical team members to deliver software solutions
* Work with offshore and junior developers as needed
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring when appropriate
* Contribute to ongoing technology initiatives within the organization's fraud technology environment
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree or higher
* 7+ years of relevant software development experience
* Strong professional experience with C# and .NET
* Strong experience developing backend applications and APIs
* Hands-on experience with microservices architecture
* Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Confluent Kafka
* Experience developing and integrating REST APIs
* Experience working in an Agile software development environment
* Strong problem-solving and software development skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
* Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or similar containerization platforms
* Experience with AWS
* Experience with Palantir Foundry
* Experience with Hangfire
* Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, or Prometheus
* Experience in financial services, banking, or fraud-related technology
* Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other software engineers
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
