Golang Software Engineer (Backend / Microservices)

Location: 100% Remote (U.S.-based)
Employment Type: Contract (Potential for Conversion)

Overview

We are seeking a Golang Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team focused on building modern backend services. This role will work closely with senior engineers to develop scalable, cloud-native applications leveraging microservices architecture and cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain backend services using Golang
• Develop and scale applications within a microservices architecture
• Build and integrate APIs and event-driven systems
• Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, Product, and Business Analysts
• Participate in troubleshooting, production support, and issue resolution
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and system architecture
• Support and enhance platform services and shared infrastructure components

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of overall software development experience
• 1+ year of hands-on experience with Golang (Go) in backend development
• Experience building and maintaining microservices-based systems
• Strong knowledge of:
  • APIs
  • Distributed systems and event-driven architecture
  • Cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience working with:
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitoring and observability tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Ownership mindset across full development lifecycle

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• DevOps experience
• Familiarity with AWS
• Experience with C#
• Knowledge of Jenkins or other CI/CD tools
• Experience with:
  • AI / Machine Learning
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Cloud Spanner, MongoDB Atlas
  • Event-based or distributed systems

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred but not required)

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Shawnee Mission, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
