Location: San Antonio, Texas (Remote)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a hybrid web and mobile background to contribute to a large-scale modernization initiative. This role focuses on decoupling mobile applications from legacy back-end services. The ideal candidate will take ownership of as much WebSphere decoupling work as possible, and when there are stop gaps in the process, assist with native mobile development in Kotlin and/or Swift. This position involves migrating services, creating new services, or retiring services altogether to support the transition to modern infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing mobile application integrations with back-end services dependent on WebSphere.
- Identify and document service calls and "hook points" where mobile applications leverage WebSphere.
- Perform migration and retirement of WebSphere functionalities impacting mobile endpoints.
- Remove and decommission service calls within the mobile applications, ensuring stability post-removal.
- Partner with mobile development teams to assist with native iOS and Android development tasks as needed.
- Conduct testing and validation to ensure application stability and performance after service removal.
- Manage and reconfigure REST API endpoints.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- 3-5+ years of experience in native mobile development (iOS and/or Android).
- Proven experience with both web and mobile application environments.
- Experience with WebSphere Application Server and Portal, including understanding configurations, deployments, and service management.
- Experience integrating with web services and cloud services.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
- Understanding of Java or another object-oriented programming language.
Technical Skills:- Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Swift programming (Kotlin is preferred).
- Experience with REST API development, including exposing and reconfiguring endpoints.
- Knowledge of Gitlab for source control.
- Experience with deployment tools like AWC and source control such as RTC.
- For iOS: Strong experience with Xcode, Cocoapods, MVVM, SwiftUI, Combine, and Reactive Programming.
- For Android: Strong experience with Android Studio, Gradle, MVVM, Kotlin, RxJava, and Reactive Programming.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with test development, particularly in a mobile environment.
- Knowledge of AWS.
- Experience with Talend.
- Previous experience with payment platforms.
- Published applications in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
